Coronavirus Cases in Greece Climb to Double Figures

The second case of coronavirus was recorded in the western Greece city of Patras on Thursday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases throughout the country to ten.
The Greek Health Ministry announced that the tenth victim is a close relative of the 66-year-old man who had traveled to Israel and Egypt before being diagnosed positive for the disease on Wednesday.
That gentleman is currently hospitalized in serious condition in Patras.
Greek authorities announced on Wednesday evening that emergency preventative measures will be taken in three regions in the west of the country amid Covid19 coronavirus fears.
More specifically, the regional units of Achaea, Zakynthos (Zante) and Elis (Ilia) will be closing all schools, sports centers, cinemas, theaters and other public gathering places for 48 hours, beginning on Thursday.
The developments came as the coronavirus continues to spread around the world.
The number of confirmed cases in South Korea neared 6,000 on Thursday, and the nation of Italy ordered the closure of all its schools after it was discovered that the virus had spread to all but one of its 20 regions, killing 107 people.
The United Kingdom has been warned that an epidemic is likely.
A further 31 virus deaths in China took the number of fatalities beyond 3,000 on Wednesday. All of the deaths were in Hubei province, the center of the outbreak, and authorities confirmed 139 new cases – an increase over the previous day’s total.
In the United States, California declared a state of emergency over its 53 confirmed cases, and a cruise ship linked to the state’s first virus death was being held off the coast of San Francisco.
