Greek President Sends Message of Unity Amid Coronavirus Pandemic

New Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou, who was sworn in on Friday, sent a message of unity and hope to the country’s citizens on Sunday.
In her first official message since taking office, the first female president of the country called on the people to conform to the restrictions imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
“The restrictions imposed on us may be suffocating to our Greek temperament. But we can, and must, conform. We have proven in other difficult times in our history that when responsibility and solidarity prevail, we can overcome seemingly insurmountable problems. We may not come through unscathed, but certainly stronger. I stand by your side.”
In a direct manner, the President asked Greek citizens “to isolate ourselves, without feeling lonely.”

Στις πρωτόγνωρες συνθήκες που, τον τελευταίο καιρό, βιώνουμε όλοι, νιώθω έντονη την ανάγκη να συνεχίσω την επαφή μας…
