Ship With Almost 200 Migrants on Board Runs Aground on Greek Island

A ship carrying 193 migrants and refugees from Turkey has gone ashore on the Greek island of Kea (Tzia) early Monday morning.
The ship, which had sailed from the Turkish port of Canakkale, was apparently headed to Italy when bad sea conditions forced it to run ashore on the rocky Greek island.
Authorities say that three traffickers are among the ship’s passengers.
According to Skai.gr, the migrants were transported to a local hotel. There are a few minors and two pregnant women among them.
At the orders of Shipping Minister Yiannis Plakiotakis, a tugboat has been sent to Kea to assist in pulling the ship free from the rocks.
