A 31-year old woman who has been tested positive for the coronavirus gave birth to a healthy baby in AthensĀ on Monday afternoon.
The patient and new mother, who had exhibited the typical coronavirus symptoms of cough and high fever, tested positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus.
According to Greece’s iefimerida website, she was subsequently rushed to Atticon Hospital in Athens, where she underwent an emergency caesarian section.
The woman gave birth to a baby weighing 3.450 kilograms (7.6 pounds), who was tested and has been found to be in excellent health.
They are now both under medical surveillance at the hospital.
Several days ago, another woman in Greece who had tested positive for the new virus also gave birth to an infant who was not infected with the disease.
