Army Officer Becomes the Latest Coronavirus Victim in Greece



A 46-year-old Army officer infected with Covid-19 has died at an Alexandroupolis hospital, in north-eastern Greece, bringing the total number of fatalities in the country to 23. The total number of cases in the country stands at 821.

Reports say that the latest victim was transferred to Alexandroupolis from Xanthi, where nine people have tested positive for the virus within the last 6 days.

Civil Protection Deputy Minister Nikos Hardalias announced on Wednesday that the community of Echinos, in the Miki area of Xanthi, northern Greece, went on lockdown beginning at 6 PM on Wednesday and ending on April 7.
