Greek Police Arrest Individual After Group of People Gather Outside a Church in Athens



The Hellenic (Greek) Police arrested one individual and identified a total of five others in Athens for violating the ban on gatherings, it was made public on Sunday.

This came as a result of a reckless group of approximately one hundred people who gathered outside the Church of Prophet Elias in the Agia Barbara neighborhood of Athens on Friday afternoon.

The people assembled together outside the church and sang psalms, thereby violating the restrictive measures put in place to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

The individuals even posted videos online showing their assembly, sparking a widespread negative reaction.

People living nearby called the police, who is now investigating the issue, attempting to identify as many individuals as possible who violated the ban on public gatherings.
