Mykonos Island Sunset Offers Ray of Hope During Quiet Eastertime

As the citizens of Greece and most other nations across the globe continue to be stuck at home (or “safe at home” as some public health campaigns would have it) due to the coronavirus pandemic, beautiful scenes from Greece’s iconic island of Mykonos are going viral.
Now that tourists are a thing of the past for a little while longer, the residents of the idyllic isle of Mykonos can enjoy the tranquil beauty of their homeland without the constant noise of bustling streets.
A timelapse video recently captured a stunning sunset as viewed from the island, one which, besides being the stuff of everyone’s vacation dreams, seemed to offer a symbol of hope at this most holy time of the year for Christians.
The light of the sun as it was setting created the illusion of a candle on the surface of the sea, similar to the one millions of Greeks hold during the Liturgy of the Resurrection at Easter.
