Mykonos Hotel, Opening in July, Is First Vegan Hotel in Greece

Landlocked in Ano Mera, Koukoumi Hotel Mykonos rises in Cycladic splendor on a pristine height of land which grants unobstructed views of the village, the mountains, and the glistening Aegean Sea in the distance.
This is the first vegan-only hotel on Mykonos, unique in all Greece, which will serve as a peaceful retreat on nēsí tōn anémōn – the island of the winds when it opens in Summer 2020.
The hotel is the vision of the Kondiza family, who wanted to create a place where people, nature, and animals coexist in complete harmony. From the stone of the building to the smallest element of its décor, everything you see and touch is eco-friendly, recyclable, and cruelty-free.

“It’s a beautiful vision,” hotel manager Manolis Xenakis related to Greek Reporter in a recent interview. “There are zero animal by-products in the hotel. Everything we use is natural and cruelty-free. Even the spa works exclusively with vegan cosmetic products and offers signature detox and energy packages to pamper our guests.”

The hotel is still adding the finishing touches to guest rooms and public areas, but the manager expects the work to be completed on time.
“I’m confident we will be ready by the end of June, and we will open on July 1st if the conditions allow us,” Xenakis says, referring to the current coronavirus pandemic which has crippled the Greek hospitality industry so far this Spring.

Koukoumi, perhaps surprisingly, also has the only vegan restaurant in all of Mykonos, sporting a menu inspired by local and Greek traditions. All dishes are homemade, with 100% organic ingredients sourced from trusted vendors. Guests can also opt for tailor-made, balanced nutritional meals created by the hotel’s in-house personal trainers.
“We have detox and energizing packages, which are often 20-30% cheaper than other booking options and include meals, spa treatments, gym, and other perks,” Xenakis says, explaining the array of attractive offers, which will be available beginning on July 1, 2020.
The vegan-only hotel is also pet-friendly, extending a warm welcome to your small furry companions, who will be able to stay with you in luxury and style. An array of hotel amenities will be available for animals as well.
In the Myconian dialect, “koukoumi” means a cozy place, or cocoon, and that’s just the serene feeling that this hotel conveys. Don’t miss this much-needed chance to detox and relax at this new Mykonos gem after travel restrictions are finally lifted in July.
