Greece is looking to open up restaurants and cafes on June 1 as the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths in the country has been reduced significantly.
On Tuesday, health authorities announced only ten new cases of Covid-19 in the country– and no new deaths. Thirty-five people are currently being treated in ICUs around the nation.
Earlier, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis had said that it appears “absolutely feasible” for restaurants and cafes to reopen on June 1.
“We want to give enterprises the ability to start operating again while respecting the instructions of the experts but not impose such harsh restrictions that business activity becomes impossible,” the PM announced.
The Greek leader added that he has spoken with the mayor of Athens and many other mayors and ministers on how to increase the amount of outdoor space available for restaurants to use.
