Greece will ease travel restrictions with the nations of Bulgaria and Serbia beginning on June 1, according to remarks made by the Bulgarian Prime Minister on Tuesday.

“We have agreed with Greece, as of June 1, to allow travel without the obligatory 14-day quarantine for people who travel for business, family or humanitarian reasons,” according to Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, as reported by Reuters news agency.

Like most countries, Bulgaria has refused to admit most travelers into its country since mid-March as part of its coronavirus protection measures. While diplomats, seasonal workers and returning Bulgarian nationals were allowed to enter, they had to undergo a 14-day quarantine upon entry.

Borissov also said Romania’s Parliament might also ease their border restrictions in the near future.

To enter Bulgaria, Serbia and Greece, travelers will need to sign a health declaration at the border, in which they state they are free of coronavirus symptoms.

Borissov also said that Bulgaria is currently negotiating to reduce restrictions on travelers from Austria and Germany.
