KLM, Air France To Resume Flights To Athens

The Dutch air carrier KLM and Air France will resume direct flights to Athens within weeks, it was announced on Tuesday.

KLM will begin its Athens route on June 6, while Air France will resume flying to the Greek capital on May 23, according to the statement released by airline officials.

In its announcement, KLM said it will schedule five flights per week to Greece, as part of its summer schedule.

The company’s announcement states “KLM starts its summer program with a significantly reduced network due to the COVID-19 crisis. Its flights will be conducted based on national and international guidelines, and complies with international law and regulations.”

Beginning May 11, face masks have been mandatory for passengers flying on KLM, according to the officials.

Air France’s first flight to Greece are scheduled for May 23, and were will be another on May 30. Additional flights will be added later in the summer. Flights from Paris to the Greek island of Crete will resume on June 27.

In its announcement, Air France said it is operating at only approximately 15% of its normal capacity.

Similar to KLM, Air France will also require passengers to wear masks while on board. There will also be a significant reduction in on-board services.

In another sign that international travel is beginning to get back to normalcy, Air France will also resume flights to North America on June 30, 2020.
