Greeks are now allowed to dine, have a drink, or enjoy their coffee indoors, as the ban due to the COVID-19 pandemic has been lifted as of Saturday,
Restaurants, cafes, and bars opened again on May 25, but patrons were only allowed to sit outside. This time they can be indoors. However, there are social distancing restrictions in restaurants, bars, and cafes.
The restrictions include that only one customer per 2.2 square meters (23.7 sq. ft.) of usable space is allowed. No more than six people per table are allowed. Also, people can not sit or stand at the bar.
Furthermore, if a buffet is served, serving is done by the establishment’s personnel as customers are not allowed to touch the food on display.
Hotel restaurants also opened on Saturday and foods and drinks can be served in open-air events.
Beach bars are now allowed to sell alcohol and food and play music, but the ministry of health and the Citizen Protection Ministry advises that people should not crowd around the bar.
