Breathtaking New Video Shows Stunning Beauty of Authentic Crete

A new video directed by award-winning director Theo Papadoulakis takes us on a fascinating virtual tour across the most inspiring and moving experiences that the Greek island of Crete has to offer.
Produced by Indigo View on behalf of the Region of Crete, the 5-minute video lingers over Crete’s exotic beaches and crystal clear waters and then takes viewers on a flight over its snowy mountains, verdant gorges and silver-toned olive orchards, accompanied by authentic traditional music and warm-hearted smiles.

“What makes Crete unique is something more than its beauty, its history, the richness of its land and of the heart of its people. It is its truth and its authenticity,” the release note on the video reads.
“With its more than 1000 km (62 miles) of shores, its rich history over the centuries, its exciting scents and flavors, Crete, home of the oldest European civilization, welcomes its visitors with optimism as it continues to offer authentic relations of responsibility and reciprocity, especially in this year’s unprecedented circumstances.”
The birthplace of the Greek god Zeus, according to myth, Crete remains a fascinating destination all-year-round, boasting a diversity of activities for any traveler. The island tempts the visitor to experience its hospitality with all their senses in a vacation to remember.
“Holidays are the dream depicted in the drawings of young children, a fun time for young adults, and an opportunity to relax for the more senior,” says the Regional Governor of Crete, Stavros Arnaoutakis.
“And holidays in Crete are authentic. The people, their lively smiles, the unique flavors, the dialogue with yesterday at cultural monuments, the contact with nature — all compose an authentic landscape from one end of Crete to the other.”
