German Tourists Landing in Greece Without PLF Form Hit with Stiff Fines

German vacationers were hit with 500 euro fines when they landed at Heraklion airport on Crete on Wednesday without having filled up the “Passenger Locator Form” (PLF) prior to coming to the country.
Greece requires from travelers to the country to fill the PLF form, listing essential data that also includes their accommodation address in Greece, to be used in case they test positive for Covid-19. The form must be filled out 24 hours prior to check-in.
An algorithm then evaluates the data and a QR code is sent to the passenger. According to this code, health teams at entry gates decide who will have to undergo a COVID-19 test upon arrival.
Local news website ekriti reports that the German vacationers protested for some time, insisting that they did not have any information about the PLF. They added that neither their travel agent nor the departure airport informed them about this particular document.

On Wednesday Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis requested that Covid-19 measures be implemented yet more strictly to prevent any further outbreaks of the disease in Greece.
The Prime Minister stated that while the current framework for combating the pandemic is sufficient, more focus needs to be placed on ensuring that health and safety protocols are being properly followed.
