Greek PM Mitsotakis Speaks with Russian President Putin by Telephone on Wednesday


According to information released by the Greek Prime Minister’s office, PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke with Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin by telephone on Wednesday evening.
The two men discussed bilateral relations, and recent developments in the East Mediterranean and the wider region, as well as the issue of the conversion of the Hagia Sophia UNESCO World Heritage monument into a mosque.
The conversation marked the first time the two leaders had spoken since the July 10 decision by Turkey regarding Hagia Sophia. No other information had been released at press time regarding the outcome of the conversation.
