Shipowner Panagiotis Laimos Passes Away at 88

Shipowner Panagiotis Laimos passed away at the age of 88, after being hospitalized at Evangelismos Hospital in Athens.
His funeral took place on Friday at the First Cemetery of Athens, among a very close  family circle.
Laimos was born on Oinousses in 1931. He was member of the Laimos family of shipowners that started in 1905 with the purchase of a steamboat on Oinousses.
The Laimos family contributed greatly to the growth of the small island, both financially and culturally.
Panagiotis Laimos lived in London for most of his life and reportedly helped many Greeks who went to Britain with health problems.
Laimos was a personal friend of Prince Charles and Princess Diana and along with his wife Chrysanthi were among the guests at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
