Pizza Hut Shuts Down Operations in Greece After 12 Years

Pizza Hut, the American restaurant chain and international franchise, announced on Thursday that it is closing down all its 16 stores in Greece with immediate effect.
Pizza Hut Greece sources told the Athens Macedonia News Agency (AMNA) that operations in the country are no longer viable. It is estimated that at least 180 people will lose their job.
The same sources said that “the coronavirus pandemic, which created a crisis unprecedented in Greece and internationally, hit the catering industry hard and led to the worsening of the existing difficulties and the inability to reverse the negative climate.”
The closure of Pizza Hut stores in Greece due to the lockdown, “led to significant losses – multiplying the already existing business and financial challenges. Therefore, the whole project became unsustainable and any further actions would be doomed to failure,” AMNA is quoting them as saying.
