Greece Announces 153 More Coronavirus Cases in Last 24 Hours

The Greek Health Organization EODY announced on Thursday that there were a total of 156 new coronavirus diagnoses in the country in the last 24 hours, with the vast majority of them of domestic origin.
There were only eleven individuals who were found positive for the coronavirus at the country’s entrance points and borders over the last day. There were no new deaths, so the total number of fatalities of those who died with the disease since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 210.
The total number of all those who have contracted the virus in the country since its introduction is now 5,123, including all those who have recovered from it. This represents a daily increase of 3.1%. Just over half, or 54.6% of these individuals, are male.
Of the total cases diagnosed in Greece, 1,370 have been traced back to foreign travel. A total of 2,551, or 49.8%, are related to an already-known case. The rest are unknown and are under further investigation.
As already discussed in previous briefings by the EODY, their statement today reiterated the ongoing problem with weddings which have taken place this summer. The announcement stated that nine additional cases have now been traced back to the wedding in Alexandroupolis that has been the origin of many other cases.
Currently, there are 14 Covid-19 patients who are intubated in ICUs across Greece; 78.6% of these are male.
