Greece Announces 204 New Coronavirus Cases; Five Dead in Last 24 Hours

Greece’s Public Health Organization, or EODY, announced on Thursday that there were a total of 204 cases of the coronavirus detected throughout the country in the last day; only 12 of these were diagnosed at the country’s borders and other points of entry and eleven more came about as a result of voluntary testing.
Five more individuals passed away with the coronavirus in the last day, bringing the country’s total number of fatalities to 221. Two Greek citizens have now succumbed with the virus at nursing homes in the country.
Only seventy-five of all those who have died, or 33.9%, of these were female. The total number of those who have been diagnosed with carrying the coronavirus is now 6,381, of which 55.0% are male.

Of the total number of cases, 1,557, or 24.4%, are considered to have originated from foreign travel and 3,110, or 48.7%, are related to an already-registered case.
At the present time, the EODY reports that 22 Greek citizens are being treated by intubation; their average age is 65 years. Only seven are female, while just over half (54.5%) suffer from an underlying disease or are aged 70 or older.

Since the beginning of the outbreak, a total of 136 patients have been successfully discharged from ICUs across the country.
The median age of all those who have died with the virus is 77 years; 95.9% of these individuals suffered from some underlying disease and/or were age 70 and over.
The virus is distributed all over the nation of Greece, with the lion’s share of infections in the regions of Attica, with 64, and Thessaloniki, with 37 (five of which are related to the nursing home outbreak). There are currently 12 cases in Larissa and eight in Argolida, while 12 others are currently under investigation.
