The Anargyrios and Korgialenios School of Spetses (AKSS) announced the establishment of a new Music Academy of international standards which is expected to start operating in the summer of 2021.
The Music Academy of Anargyrios and Korgialenios School of Spetses (MAAKS) will provide an educational platform for music meetings, where young children and adults will be able to attend high quality classes by internationally renowned artists and music teachers as well as masterclasses that will help them develop their skills.
The Music Academy of the historical school was celebrated with two concerts that took place on August 8 and 9 at the School premises.
On the first night, the Sinfonietta Hellenica orchestra under the direction of the young conductor Georgios Galanis performed works by Rossini and Haydn in the ancient theater of the School, while the oboe soloist Christos Tsaparas performed a concert by Mozart.
On the second music night that took place on August 9 at the School premises by the sea, the orchestra performed a repertoire of light music in chamber music arrangements. The guest star of the night was soprano Theano Papadaki.
The Anargyrios and Korgialenios School of Spetses were founded by national benefactors and donors Sotirios Anargyros and Marinos Korgialenis and was inaugurated on October 1, 1927, by the Prime Minister Eleftherios Venizelos.
The school became a prestigious private educational establishment with excellent teachers and facilities. However, it stopped operating as a school in 1983. The premises are used for cultural and educational events and conferences.
