Although August is coming to a close and fall is approaching, Greece is now facing two days of broiling temperatures.
Most of the country will see extremely high temperatures raging from 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit) to 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) on Monday and Tuesday.
Thankfully, areas along Greece’s coastline will be a bit cooler and more bearable.
Clear skies and temperatures spanning all the way from 21 degrees Celsius (70 degrees Fahrenheit) to 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit) are predicted in Attica on Monday.
The weather will be similar around the Thessaloniki area on Monday, with the lowest temperatures there ranging from a low of 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit) and reaching 37 degrees Celsius (98 degrees Fahrenheit) at their worst.
This late-summer heatwave comes after most Greek citizens have already returned from their summer vacations. Residents broiling in the country’s urban centers may once again have to flock to the seaside to cool down if the high temperatures continue through the weekend.
