After nine months of hard work and preparation, the first test of new lighting on the Acropolis finally illuminated the Parthenon on Wednesday night.
The breathtaking sight of the full moon above the iconic monument only added an air of splendor to the event.
According to Eleftheria Deko, the head of the new lighting project, the test was the result of intense work and study of the site. In order to best highlight Greece’s most recognizable structure, technicians had to analyze every single aspect of the Parthenon, as well as its surroundings.
The official date of implementation for the new lighting on the Acropolis has not been announced as of yet.
