On Wednesday, Greek health officials announced that 248 new cases of the coronavirus were diagnosed in the country, and that there had been three 3 new deaths in those who had suffered with the virus.
This is a sharp increase from Tuesday’s 169 confirmed cases.
Wenesday’s new cases include 19 that were discovered at Greece’s points of entry during the routine testing of travelers that takes place there.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, Greece has tallied 12,080 cases of the coronavirus, including all those who have recovered, with men making up over 55% of these. So far there have been 293 total deaths linked to the virus.
Just 19% of Greece’s confirmed cases can be linked to foreign travel, while another 44% of them have been associated with contact with another confirmed case. The causes of the rest of the cases are unclear.
As of Wednesday, 46 patients suffering with the virus are being treated in Greek hospitals and are under intubation. The median age of these patients is 68.
