Greek champion Olympiacos completed the double by beating AEK 1-0 and lifting the Greek Cup on Saturday night at the Panthessaliko Stadium of Volos.
Lazar Randjelovic scored the only goal of the game with just nine minutes on the clock.
In an entertaining encounter both teams wasted a number of chances. Olympiacos came closest in the second half but on the 57th minute AEK’s goalkeeper Tsintotas saved a penalty kick by Youssef El-Arabi.
AEK enjoyed most of the possession for the remainder but were unable to find the breakthrough.
“We are very happy for another title. Winning the ‘double’ is always special,” Pedro Martins, the Olympiacos coach said after the game.
He stressed that winning the Cup is the conclusion of a “season of excellence”, but also the start of the new season in which he wishes to see Olympiacos even stronger.
