Greek health officials announced on Tuesday that all crew members of the Mein Schiff 6 cruise ship which sailed into the port of Piraeus were tested negative for the coronavirus.
Owner TUI Cruises announced on Monday that the 12 crew members that were initially tested positive to the coronavirus during random testing have been isolated, although none of them are exhibiting Covid-19 symptoms.
Repeat tests showed that there was no sign of the virus.
The ship was on cruise to Iraklio, Piraeus and Corfu when it agreed with Greek authorities to return to Piraeus for further tests and isolated the 12 crew members.
The measures of hygiene on the ship and the cleaning protocol provide no reason of concern for its passengers, crew and staff, the company said, as it has a comprehensive system to deal with possible Covid-19 cases on board.
The cruise ship carries 922 passengers and 666 crew and staff. Following EU protocols, the ship is prepared to isolate infected individuals in independently ventilated cabins in separate areas.
Civil Protection officials said that passengers had been obliged to submit a negative PCR test in the last 72 hours before boarding the ship, following protocols, and that none of the crew had disembarked during the cruise.
