Greek health authorities announced on Sunday that four more people died with the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities in the country to 409.
There were 229 new cases of the coronavirus, of which 31 were associated with known outbreaks and 28 were detected following checks at the country’s entry points. The total number of cases is 19,842, of which 55.8% are men.
The number of intubated patients suffering from the coronavirus in Greece now number 82. The median age of those intubated is 69, and just 25 of them are women.
Meanwhile, a total of eight cases of the novel coronavirus have been found at a care home for the elderly in Karditsa, Greek authorities announced on Sunday.
The first two cases were detected last Tuesday during routine random testing by the National Organisation for Public Health (NOPH) at care homes throughout the country.
Tests were immediately conducted on the rest of the staff and residents, revealing another four infections among the staff, while two more cases among the staff were detected during retesting on Saturday.
The NOPH will continue testing in the coming days.
