Another illegal indoor party took place on Friday night in Thessaloniki, the Greek city that is currently suffering the most from the second deadly wave of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Loud music coming from an apartment in downtown Thessaloniki led neighbors to call the police on Friday night.
When the police officers knocked on the door, they found out that approximately twenty individuals were partying with no social-distancing measures whatsoever, breaching the curfew imposed on a national level in Greece.
According to Greece’s Iefimerida website, most of the individuals were French and Spanish nationals who study in Thessaloniki’s universities.
The police arrested two of the organizers of the party, fining them €3,000 each. They also issued separate fines to those who attended the party for illegally breaking the curfew and also issued fines to those who were not wearing face masks.
Thessaloniki hospitals have reached their limits, and a citywide lockdown had been imposed well before the national lockdown.
