An army field hospital has been set up outside the 424 Military Hospital in Thessaloniki in order to tend to Covid-19 patients as the city’s hospitals reach overflow.
Works are expected to be completed and the field hospital will be ready to receive Coronavirus patients by Monday, according to an Open TV report.
The situation in Thessaloniki hospital is dramatic, as the number of patients grows daily. Intensive care units are almost full, with authorities working with two private hospitals in Thessaloniki because of overcrowding of ICU’s in the city’s private hospitals.
On Saturday Greece’s National Public Health System announced 2,311 new Covid-19 cases and a record 108 deaths. Thessaloniki has the largest daily number of cases in recent days.
