Covid-19: New Cases Rise to 1,240 Tuesday; 98 Pass Away with Virus

On Tuesday, Greece recorded a total of 1,240 new cases of Covid-19 after 30,000 virus tests, both rapid and PCR, were conducted across the country.

Just yesterday, Monday, only 639 new cases of the coronavirus were diagnosed in Greece. That was the second consecutive day that the number of new cases were in the 600’s after hovering in the low thousands for days.

In the past day, 98 people with the virus passed away in the country, which was 36 more than Monday. Currently, 550 patients with Covid-19 are intubated in Greece.

In total, 126,372 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the country since the beginning of the pandemic, including all those who have recovered from the virus.

Of this total, 5,143 are associated with foreign travel, and 36,203 are associated with contact with a known case.

Of the 550 patients intubated currently, 77.5% are over the age of 70 or suffer from preexisting conditions. Their median age is 67, and 166 of the patients are female.

A total of 755 patients have been discharged from ICUs around the country since the beginning of the pandemic.

The 98 new deaths recorded on Tuesday bring the total number of fatalities in the country to 3,785. Of all those who lost their lives after suffering from the virus, a total of 1,512 have been female.

The median age of those who passed away with Covid-19 is 79, and 95.6% of them were over the age of 70 or suffered from underlying health issues.
