The Eurovision Song Contest, set to take place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in May 2021, will include an entry by Greek-Dutch singer Stefania Liberakakis.
The young songstress, who was born in December of 2002 in Utrecht, the Netherlands, will ironically represent Greece in the country of her birth at the 65th annual international competition.
The young singer became known in the Netherlands at the tender age of nine, when she participated in the Dutch version of the popular talent show ”The Voice Kids.”
Her entry for the upcoming competition, entitled “Last Dance,” is said to have an ’80s sound and will be released in March.
“Last Dance” was written by Dimitris Kontopoulos, Arcade, and Sharon Vaughn, who penned Stefania’s 2020 entry for the song competition.
Stefania’s song “SUPERG!RL” was selected to represent Greece at the 2020 Eurovision contest.
Last year’s contest, also scheduled to take place in Rotterdam, was cancelled for the first time in its 64-year history in March of 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
After that competition was cancelled, judges decided that song entries could not be resubmitted for the 2021 Eurovision contest.
The same lineup of 41 countries that had been meant to compete last year will be included in the 2021 Eurovision competition.

High hopes for “Last Dance” at 65th Eurovision

Stefania and her team wrote and recorded five potential songs for the upcoming song contest, to be judged by a panel from ERT, Greece’s public broadcasting network.
Since the panel chose “Last Dance” to represent the country, Stefania will record a final track of the song on January 10 to submit to the competition.
Those who have heard the track, which is said to contain an upbeat, hopeful message for the future after the struggles felt internationally in 2020, have high hopes for the country’s chances in the competition.
In the last six iterations of the contest, Greece has not managed to place within the top ten. Stefania and her creative team hope to change that with their pop track.
