Turkey Plans to Conduct Research South of Greece's Rhodes and Castellorizo

Turkey‘s State Petroleum Company ΤΡΑΟ intends to conduct scientific research to locate potential reserves of hydrocarbons south of the Greek islands of Rhodes and Castellorizo in the near future.
According to what Greece’s Kathimerini newspaper reported on Sunday, the Turkish company has submitted an application to the country’s naval forces in order to begin with seismic research in the area south of Rhodes and Castellorizo, covering an area from the 28th to the 29th meridian.
According to the same report, the Turkish company asked for Turkey’s naval availability after August 15.
It is noted that Athens has made clear to Ankara that the country will not accept any move that could possibly violate the country’s sovereign rights, the same way Turkey does with the Republic of Cyprus.
Despite the recent general elections in Greece and the change of administrations, the country has kept a clear and strong position, using every possible form of communication with Turkey, so that Ankara knows what its limits are in the region.
